Wellbeing at Škoda Auto

Ergonomics

Škoda Auto constantly improves the working environment and product, striving to continuously minimize the health burden on employees. The ergonomics department closely collaborates with technical development to optimize the product, based on knowledge and experience from current models. This collaboration starts early, in the design phase. The goal is to enable employees to work throughout their career without health complications.
One of the ergonomic projects of Škoda Auto includes controlled rotations, which earned the car manufacturer 1st place in the Good Practice competition, awarded as part of the Healthy Workplaces campaign. This competition, organized by the EU-OSHA agency in collaboration with EU member states since 2000, recognizes outstanding and innovative achievements in OSH.

Polyclinic Škoda

Škoda Auto has a long-standing tradition in providing healthcare services. Currently, these services are centralized in the Polyclinic Škoda building, but medical offices are also located directly within the individual production facilities of the company to ensure maximum accessibility for employees. The Škoda Auto facility holds the status of a non-state medical institution, primarily focused on providing preventive check-ups and supporting employee health. In addition to occupational health services, the Polyclinic Škoda building houses private general practitioners, a number of specialized clinics, and other services. The private and specialized clinics are also available to the general public. More information can be found here

Preventive programs

Preventing health problems is far more effective than dealing with their consequences. That is why Škoda Auto focuses not only on identifying health issues resulting from work-related strain, but also on the well‑known risks of lifestyle diseases. To detect risk factors early and prevent illness, Škoda Auto offers all employees a wide range of preventive programs, such as rehabilitation and preventive care, Health Days, telemedicine, and vaccinations.

Health Days

Taking a preventive approach to one’s health pays off many times over. Supporting health prevention is therefore one of the strategic pillars of the OHS and Ergonomics department. Škoda Auto organizes thematic Health Days for its employees, held directly at their workplaces. These Health Days include preventive screenings and education focused on lifestyle diseases as well as other common illnesses within the Czech population. Thanks to regular preventive check-ups, serious illnesses can be detected early, and employees are promptly referred for further specialized examinations or follow‑up care.

Preventive events for public

Škoda Auto supports health prevention not only for its employees, but also for communities in the regions where its plants operate. In autumn 2023, the company launched the campaign Health Matters, which promotes physical and mental wellbeing, encourages regular medical check-ups, and fosters open communication about one’s health. Under the umbrella of this campaign, the company also co‑organizes public events such as Women’s Health Days, Men’s Health Week, and the popular Family Health Day.
Škoda Auto is additionally involved in various public events across its plant regions that showcase health and social services or promote overall health and wellbeing.
