Škoda Wellbeing

We care about the wellbeing of employees and communities in the regions of our plants.

What is wellbeing

Wellbeing is a harmonious state of body and mind, related to finding life's purpose, realizing one's potential, achieving personal goals, physical and mental health, financial stability, quality interpersonal relationships and feeling a sense of belonging to a community.

 Meaning and fulfillment of life
• Quality interpersonal relationships
• Belonging to a community
• Financial stability
• Overall physical and mental health

In everyday life, wellbeing contributes to better management of stress, crisis situations and overall human health. In the work environment, we can cultivate well-being if the mental and physical demands of the work are in line with the employee's abilities.

Wellbeing at Škoda Auto

Ergonomics

Škoda Auto constantly improves the working environment and product, striving to continuously minimize the health burden on employees. The ergonomics department closely collaborates with technical development to optimize the product, based on knowledge and experience from current models. This collaboration starts early, in the design phase. The goal is to enable employees to work throughout their career without health complications.
One of the ergonomic projects of Škoda Auto includes controlled rotations, which earned the car manufacturer 1st place in the Good Practice competition, awarded as part of the Healthy Workplaces campaign. This competition, organized by the EU-OSHA agency in collaboration with EU member states since 2000, recognizes outstanding and innovative achievements in OSH.

Soul matters

Employees are provided with anonymous psychological consultations as part of the project.  The company offers psychological support to individuals and teams, assesses the psychological demands of job positions, organizes awareness events, prepares preventive campaigns, contributes to destigmatization and open communication on mental health topics. The company collaborates with leading Czech psychologists and follows the latest global trends.

Polyclinic Škoda

Škoda Auto has a long-standing tradition in providing healthcare services. Currently, these services are centralized in the Polyclinic Škoda building, but medical offices are also located directly within the individual production facilities of the company to ensure maximum accessibility for employees. The Škoda Auto facility holds the status of a non-state medical institution, primarily focused on providing preventive check-ups and supporting employee health. In addition to occupational health services, the Polyclinic Škoda building houses private general practitioners, a number of specialized clinics, and other services. The private and specialized clinics are also available to the general public. More information can be found here

Preventive programs

Škoda Auto offers all employees a wide range of preventive programs, such as rehabilitation exercise programs, physiotherapy programs, or the Back in play campaign.
With the support of the KOVO Trade Union, employees are provided with physiological programs that can be utilized directly at the workplace. These programs help address painful conditions and diagnoses related to the back, shoulders, or hands.

Health Days

Preventive events for public

Taking preventive care of your health pays off many times over. Supporting health prevention is one of the strategic pillars for the Health Services and Ergonomics department. In the fall of 2023, Škoda Auto launched a campaign called Health Matters, which brings many events focused on preventing lifestyle and common diseases. A specific example is Men's Health Week in the spirit of Movember. The campaign supports not only employees but the entire community in caring for physical and mental health, motivating regular medical check-ups and open communication about health status.
Škoda Auto has also participated in other public events in the regions, presenting health and social services in the respective locations or promoting overall health and wellbeing.

Car for the Clown Doctor

Zdravotní klaun (Clown Doctor) is a charitable organization that has been assisting primarily pediatric patients, as well as seniors, in going through the treatment process with a smile since 2001. In 2021, Skoda Auto supported the organization by providing two Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV electric cars for many professional clowns in the Czech Republic, who regularly visit hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices. The final design of the car was created by children themselves in the 'Car for the Clown Doctor' competition. More information about the organization can be found here.

The modern era brings with it modern technologies. Škoda Auto is committed to progress and the use of these smart digital tools in the field of health and wellbeing care. In the area of prevention, it tests and uses virtual reality in collaboration with the Inno Team. Additionally, it provides the Doctor Online 24/7 service and online psychological consultations. Škoda Auto also informs the general public about the possibilities of using modern technologies in these areas through regional events such as Gaming Day or With ZPŠ in the Clouds (ZPŠ stands for The Škoda Employee Health Insurance Company).

Partnership with leading experts and organizations

The company collaborates on health topics with the National Institute of Public Health, the Czech Ergonomics Association, the Public Health Office and a number of regional organizations. In cooperation with Klaudián´s Hospital, the specialized department of Na Homolce Hospital, and Škoda Employee Health Insurance Company, a new program was developed for the company's employees. This program aims at the early detection of heart and vascular diseases and, in particular, the rapid provision of subsequent specialized care.
Škoda Auto is also an active participant in expert lectures and conferences. An example is the annual lecture where it educates students of the Czech Technical University in Prague in the field of preventive ergonomics.
